Bluffton/Beaufort/Hardeeville, SC- Seventeen University of South Carolina Beaufort students will be completing their final semester of Early Childhood Education coursework by commencing a 16 week internship program in area schools.  Each student is assigned a cooperating teacher from a Beaufort, Jasper, or Colleton county school with whom they will be working directly over the course of the next 4 months.
This is the largest class of USCB Early Childhood Education in recent years. Students will be interning at the following schools:  Hardeeville  Elementary, Hilton Head IB Elementary, Lady’s Island Elementary, Hilton Head School for Creative Arts, Shell Point Elementary, Okatie Elementary, Michael C. Riley Elementary, Hilton Head Island Early Learning Center, and Hendersonville Elementary .
According to Mary Hope Roseneau, Field Placement Coordinator, “The time spent with a master teacher in his or her classroom is the final, and most important learning experience for our students.  Our partnerships with area schools are an invaluable resource, and we certainly appreciate the hard work that the cooperating teachers do for our program.”
After completing their internships, students will be finishing their B.A. degrees and earning initial teacher certification from the State Department of Education.
